What is CWZ?
New York City’s Commercial Waste Zones (CWZ) program is a major overhaul of the city’s private waste collection system. Instead of multiple haulers serving the same streets, each zone—like Bronx West—has a small group of approved providers. This reduces traffic congestion, cuts emissions, improves worker safety, and raises service standards across the board. RTS is proud to be an authorized provider for Bronx West, helping local businesses stay compliant while improving sustainability and reliability in their daily operations.
What Businesses Need to Know About Compliance
Starting June 2, 2025, businesses in Bronx West will begin selecting an authorized hauler. By October 2, 2025, all businesses must have a signed agreement in place to avoid penalties. RTS makes it easy to transition, offering personalized support and tailored waste solutions for every business size and type.
About Bronx West
Bronx West is a densely populated, economically diverse region of the Bronx that includes neighborhoods like Fordham, University Heights, and Kingsbridge. It’s home to a mix of legacy institutions and family-run businesses that serve the community’s day-to-day needs. Under the CWZ program, a wide range of local operations will be required to formalize their waste collection contracts with an authorized hauler like RTS.
