785 million people around the world lack access to clean and safe drinking water. By supporting the work of charity: water, they can provide access to this basic human necessity to those that need it most. charity: water works closely with local experts in each project area to determine the most sustainable water system required to build that will best serve each community as well as help coordinate sanitation training within those communities. This infrastructure is especially important for women and children who are most impacted by lack of access to clean water. These projects help keep them in school, maintain a source of income, and fight disease. To date, charity water has funded nearly 60,000 water projects worldwide, which serve roughly 12 million people.
Each year, 72 billion pounds of food goes to waste. More than 50 million people may experience food insecurity, up from an estimated 35 million last year, due in part to the Coronavirus Pandemic. Feeding America supports millions of Americans facing food insecurity and provides billions of meals to those most in need. Not only does Feeding America put healthy and nutritious foods on the plates of millions of Americans but they also source food from farms, manufacturers, and consumer facing businesses that would have otherwise been sent to landfill.
