The position is based in New York, NY.

Senior Accountant responsibilities include reconciling account balances, maintaining general ledger, and preparing month-end close procedures. A successful candidate combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts. The ideal candidate has also experience collaborating and/or managing a Junior Accountants.

Senior Accountant duties also include ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all of our accounting tasks.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

  • Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable
  • Produce accurate accounting reports and present their results
  • Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
  • Maintains General Ledger by posting into various accounts, reconciling entries, and preparing trial balance
  • Responsible for preparation of accounting entries related to payables, prepaid expenses, general accruals and general accounting
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
  • Provide input into department’s goal setting process
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Interface directly with vendors in the timely resolution of queries and issues
  • Assist in monthly financial close and reporting
  • Assist in financial reporting process for internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist in consolidation of legal entity financial statements
  • Review payables and process payments to vendors weekly
  • Ensure all cost is reconciled monthly and processed timely
  • Review income summaries and margins on monthly basis
  • Review and respond to customer and vendor correspondence
  • Maintain all vendor files
  • Reconciliation of vendor invoices and payments on an ongoing basis
  • Reconcile and maintain an accurate payable accruals monthly
  • Collaborate closely with the operations team for reconciliation and follow up on vendor slips
  • Work cross functional with all departments
  • Provide training to new and existing staff as needed
  • Assist in fulfilling audit, tax and budgeting requirements, as needed
  • Participate in ad-hoc accounting and finance projects


Experience & Education

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • CPA is a plus

Additional Qualifications

General competencies include:

  • Three to five years of general accounting experience
  • Familiarity with the enterprise level accounting system
  • Must have strong experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, supervisory and customer service skills required
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required
  • Ability to function independently and effectively in a self-directed environment
  • Demonstrate firm understanding of accounting principles and GAAP
